On Friday, June 2nd, Ballard FC will return to Interbay Stadium to take on PDX FC at 7:00 PM as they look to stay perfect and keep the lead at the top of the Northwest Division standings. Last season, Ballard FC went 3-0 against PDX FC and will look to keep that streak going on Friday. Ballard FC is coming off a comeback 2-1 victory against United PDX on the road in which Alex Mejia scored both second-half goals. Mejia and Ballard FC will look to keep that momentum going into this Friday night’s match.
But Friday night is more than just another league match, it is also Dozfy Night, a celebration of art in the community. On the pitch, Ballard FC will wear the kits designed by Dozfy himself, Patrick Nguyen. Off the pitch, fans will have the chance to not only purchase all of the Dozfy-inspired “Dark Side of the Bridge” merchandise, but they can also meet Dozfy himself. Patrick will have a booth near the front gates where fans can meet him as well as bring pictures of their pet for a Dozfy pet portrait.
Patrick has murals and art all over Seattle, including two animal murals at Ballard Blossom. Make sure to check out his work in person, and you can find a list of all of his projects here.
The match itself will be another hugely important USL2 match as Ballard FC strives for the first Northwest Division title. Although Ballard FC won all three matches against PDX FC last season, two of the matches were decided by only one goal. With PDX FC yet to win a match, they will be looking to upset Ballard FC at home.
The PDX FC roster is full of talent and the club will only get better as the season goes along. Their roster includes a 2022 NCAA Division 1 national champion, Noah Lechelt from Syracuse University, as well as two players with professional experience. Geraldo “Chulo” Duran has over 20 professional appearances with Portland Timbers 2, and Cam Vickers has played with the USL1 Richmond Kickers, USL Championship Reno 1868, and former USL Pro Harrisburg City Islanders. The rest of the roster is full of quality players from the Timbers Academy or local Oregon universities, including at least three from the University of Portland. In their last match, PDX FC took the lead 15 minutes in before eventually losing 3-1 to the defending Northwest Division champions, CFC Atletico. With more players joining the squad as the season continues, expect a hard-fought match on Friday night and also away at PDX FC on June 18th.
For Friday night’s food options enjoy a selection from Watson’s Counter, Mainstay Provisions, Dirty Dog Hot Dog, and Coro Foods. You can also use your ticket to get a “Buy one, Get one” slice deal at any Pagliacci Pizza location (except UW) on matchday. Make sure to also stop by the Ballard FC Foundation Beer Garden to enjoy Rueben’s Brews, including the new Interbay IPA inspired by Interbay Stadium.
Gates will open at 5:30 PM, with kickoff at 7:00. Tickets are sold out, but you can purchase tickets to future home matches here. As always, you can watch the match live at the Reuben’s Brews Taproom or stream at goballardfc.com
