Ballard FC showed up for Dozfy night with a dominant 7-0 display to stay perfect atop the Northwest Division standings. The number four team in the most recent USL2 power rankings proved why they are ranked so high on Friday night with a complete performance in front of a sell-out crowd.
The match kicked off and got to a quick start. In the 22nd minute, Peter Kingston’s free-kick forced a diving stop from the PDX goalkeeper and was a sign of more to come.
The scoring commenced when Peter Kingston chested down a beautiful switch in the 24th minute. Kingston’s silky footwork took him around his defender with ease and provided a lovely finish into the roof of the net for 1-0 to Ballard.
Things kept rolling for as 4 minutes later in the 28th minute, Danny Robles slotted an inch-perfect through ball into Alex Mejia. El Tigre did what he does best and slotted it home confidently for 2-0 to the good.
Ballard kept up the dominant possession, with Danny Robles and Charlie Gaffney both adding to the scoresheet in the 42nd and 44th minutes, putting PDX in a 4-0 hole at the break.
Picking up where they left off, Ballard’s Stas Korzeniowski slotted a tidy finish past the keeper off of a cutback cross from Demian Alvarez in the 64th, celebrating with the fans in the beer garden.
The sixth goal was the result of a fluid back-to-front Ballard move that ended with a cooly-placed finish from Cameron Martin in the 75th. To cap off a night of goals, Joon Lee made it a staggering seven in the 89th.
Lars Helleren was excellent, keeping PDX goalless with a flying save to his top left and assured goalkeeping the entire match. This was also the third clean sheet in four USL2 matches for an air-tight Ballard FC backline.
