Ballard FC hosts Northwest Division challengers Oly Town FC for Music Night on Friday, June 9th. The match will feature the top two teams in the division table and Ballard FC will have to play well to stay perfect. Earlier this season, Ballard FC won 4-0 away in Olympia against Oly Town and will aim for a similar result on Friday. Since that match, both clubs are 2-0, hopefully building towards an Interbay classic this Friday. In their last match, Ballard FC secured three points in a dominant 7-0 win against PDX FC.
Friday’s match will be more than just 90 minutes of soccer, it will also be a celebration of local music. Friday’s lineup will include performances from local rapper Grynch, the Ballard High School drumline, local brass band, and a jazz choir for the national anthem. On the pitch itself, Coach Jason Farrell’s men will look to find the rhythm that they had last week with Peter Kingston pulling the strings once more.
Headlined by University of Washington soccer players Cooper Brunell and Chris Peretti as well as Belizean international Desmond Wade Jr., Oly Town FC is off to a flying start with three wins out of four. Their last match was a 2-0 win over United PDX with goals from Peretti and Wade Jr. Although United PDX is still winless, they are the only team to score on Ballard FC in USL2 play so far so Oly Town’s two wins against United PDX are very impressive. It will be paramount that Coach Farrell and Ballard FC are ready for a much tougher test this Friday than in Olympia earlier in the season.
For Friday night’s food options enjoy a selection from Watson’s Counter, Mainstay Provisions, Big Boy’s Filipino Food Truck, and Coro Foods.
