Newcomers Portland Bangers FC are coming to Seattle this Friday, June 6th at 7pm to take on Ballard FC. Friday’s match has two themes as it is Nordic Night, celebrating Ballard’s Nordic roots, but also the first leg of the PNW Keg Cup. The cup is a two match competition between the Bangers and Ballard FC, created by the two clubs together, decided based on the aggregate score across the home and away matches.

Ballard FC will look to remain perfect and win their fifth straight match. Ballard FC’s most recent match was a 5-0 victory over Midlakes United on the road in Bellevue. The five goals were scored by five different goalscorers: Ray Mendez, Khai Brisco, Elliot Spatz, Davis Mungomba, and Cameron Cruz. Read the full match recap here. Now let’s meet our visitors.
Portland Bangers FC
Before ever stepping foot on the pitch, the Bangers were an instant social media success and went viral. The club has joined Ballard FC and Vermont Green in the top 3 most followed clubs on social media across all of USL 2. With United PDX and PDX FC leaving the league in recent years, the Bangers are now the lone Portland representative in the league.
On the field, the Bangers have been middle of the pack in the Northwest Division. The currently sit in 5th place in the division standings with five points from five matches. Their one point per match average was reinforced by their last two matches, both scoreless draws against FC Olympia and the Tacoma Stars respectively. After three straight matches without a goal, the Bangers will be desperate to find the back of the net on Friday. One thing that should help that cause is the arrival of some high profile collegiate players who have finally finished their school years as they are on the quarter system. Similarly on the Ballard FC side, Sean Sent will now be joining the team for the rest of the summer after finishing up his school year.
