Emmett Layman is a first year player for Ballard FC. Before college, he played for South Whidbey High School where he was a two-time All-Conference player and set the school record for goals in a season (28). Layman started his career with Fort Lewis College where he was teammates with his new Ballard FC teammate, Anton Hjalmarsson. In his freshman year, he won a RMAC Regular Season Championship and made the RMAC All-Tournament Team.
After a good freshman season, Layman transferred to Point Loma Nazarene University where he would play his sophomore and junior seasons. As a sophomore, he earned All-PacWest Second Team honors after scoring two goals and recording six assists for the PacWest Regular Season Champions. Then, Layman truly broke out as a junior. He earned Second Team All-American honors in addition to All-West Region First Team and All-PacWest Second Team honors. He scored 15 goals and recorded five assists for the PacWest Regular Season and Tournament Champions.
For his final year of eligibility, Layman will make the jump to Division One soccer and play for the reigning National Champions. Layman joined the University of Washington this spring, where he has been playing as a winger.
