Omar Grey is a first year player for Ballard FC. Before college, he played club soccer for Crossfire Academy and was a three-sport athlete at Cleveland High School, playing soccer, basketball, and football. Grey started his collegiate career with the University of New Mexico in 2018. As a freshman, Grey lead the lobos in goals (5) and dished out two assists while appearing in all 17 matches. His efforts earned him Conference USA (C-USA) All-Freshman Team and Third Team All-Conference honors. Unfortunately, New Mexico shut down their men’s soccer program and Grey was forced to transfer, joining CSUN in 2019. In his first season with CSUN, he started in all 19 matches, scoring twice and assisting once en route to earning himself a call-up to the Jamaican U22 National Team. In 2020, CSUN did not have a soccer season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then as a junior in 2021, Grey was named to the Preseason All-Big West Team before going on to play in 12 matches and start 11 for the Matadors. For his final collegiate season, Grey returned home to Seattle and joined the University of Washington men’s soccer program in 2022. He played in 18 matches, starting 12, while scoring one goal and dishing out two assists for a husky team that won a Pac-12 regular season championship.
After graduating from the University of Washington, Grey signed a professional contract with Houston Dynamo II in 2023. While with the Dynamo, he played in 29 MLS NEXT Pro matches. Grey also went on loan with San Antonio FC, playing in four USL Championship matches. Now, Grey is with Ballard FC for the 2025 summer with hopes of returning to the professional game.
