It’s another match with big playoff implications at Interbay Stadium this Friday night for Noedic Night! We will be celebrating Ballard’s Nordic roots as the two best teams in the Northwest Division last season square off for the first time in 2023. For Nordic Night, the first 150 people into the stadium will get a free Tomte hat and the first 50 into the Beer Garden will get a koozie from Flow Fitness.
Ballard FC are top of the Northwest Division standings with Oly Town FC and CFC Atletico fighting it out for the second and final playoff spot. CFC trail Oly Town by one point but have a game in hand and will look to jump into second place with three points on Friday. Ballard FC lost their first match on Friday, June 23rd, and were held to a draw on Sunday. Fans will hope Ballard FC can get back to winning ways Friday night. Let’s have a look at the standings heading into the weekend.
CFC went a perfect 2-0 against Ballard FC last season and they are the only club in the division that Ballard have not beaten. However this year, much has changed about the CFC personnel. Their head coach moved to United PDX along with a few of their players. Current Ballard FC winger Jeremy Opong actually played for CFC last season and scored against Ballard. CFC are also without key contributors from last season such as Marco Afonso, Jose Sosa, and Gabriel Polidoro. However, the 2023 CFC roster is still very talented with a front line led by former Ballard FC striker Francisco Magana as well as Yutara Tsukada, Fumiya Shiraishi, and more. CFC have won their last two matches and are on a roll heading into Friday’s matchup.
